GHTC delivered a statement at a US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) stakeholder listening session urging the US delegation to prioritize R&D capacity strengthening within global frameworks to strengthen pandemic preparedness. The statement—which will inform US engagement in the member state working group on strengthening the World Health Organization’s (WHO) preparedness and response to health emergencies—calls for the inclusion of R&D capacity strengthening within implementation of the International Health Regulations, the expansion of regional manufacturing capacities, and enshrinement of R&D coordination and financing mechanisms as part of any future pandemic treaty.
